Car Chase Ends in Deadly Crash in Compton

The sheriff’s department in Compton started chasing a car being driven by a burglary suspect that ended in a deadly crash in the city of Long Beach. The pursued started in Compton and the vehicle traveled along Long Beach Boulevard when the car hit a SUV that was turning left at the intersection with Victoria Street, which is just west of the 710 freeway. After hitting the SUV, the car hit a fire hydrant and hit one of the police cars that had been involved in the pursuit. At one point , the driver was ejected from the car, according to the Compton Sheriff Station. The Fire department was called to the scene and the driver was declared dead at the scene. Luckily, the driver of the SUV was not injured and none of the police officers were injured during the whole ordeal. Police shut down Long Beach Boulevard between Harcourt and Ellis streets in order to conduct a formal investigation. Authorites have not released the identity of the suspect at this time, but a few friends and family who suspected that they knew the suspect gathered at the scene to mourn their lost ones.
